Release Those Same Songs

We here in the basement are happy to announce a new release coming April 20th 2025. Weve been hard at work remastering our olds songs. From the god awful mixes from jeff on the Halloween EP, to the super low quality live iphone recordings on Stay Out Of The Basement, we thought these songs deserved a proper release finally.

The new recordings were all done in house, literally we recorded it in our bathrooms and bedrooms. And Gabe has been doing all the mixing and mastering himself, all hail the engineer!

These new recordings keep our raw heavy metal and old school diy style, but with a higher quality and more clarity. So for everyone who told us the Stay Out of the Basement record was unpolished and too rough, this record is for you. Its the perfect mix between the pretty shit pop sound of the Halloween EP that the band hated but appealed to fans for its clarity and easy listening experience, and the super rough recordings from Stay Out of the Basement that only us and the die hard punks liked.

Thank you all for following us on our journey while we found our sound and what worked best for us. The new recordings and recording process has been like a breath of fresh air and we cant wait for you all to hear it.

More updates to come

Wonka’s New Mix

FIRST TAKE-

We made this shit up on 9/10/2023, right before my favorite planned holiday! Vinny was fuckin up trying to play something, then Evan started a drum beat, and then I just started whaling on the guitar. Wonka - Willy's Version on Stay Out of the Basement, from our live b-sides album, was the exact moment that shit started.

That first take was completely adlib. The breakdowns, the speed up, everything. It was one of those moments that no one said anything but everyone understood the assignment. That's how most of our jams are.

I remember calling it Wonka because it's just sounded like some kinda whimsical progression.

LYRICS-

Vinny started adlibing lyrics one session and they kinda just stuck because they were sick! We also found out the lyrics also made a lot of connections to the movie funnily enough:

"Think I'm just gonna go. Felt this way since a while ago", all those kids kinda wanted to fuckin bounce too when they realized how sketch the chocolate factory was.

"Goin from friend to foe", Veruca and Violet were fake ass friends haha.

RECORDING AND MIXING-

We were all separated at this point. I moved to Cali and Evan moved upstate. So it was tough.

Since we didn't have a perfect take, I put Evans drums in Bandlab. Followed every snare, tom, etc, and tried to get the tone to the T. I recorded the guitar parts and even added some vocals. I sent the progress to the boys and they were beyond stoked! Vinny recorded his vocals using an XBOX mic. And since I didn't have a bass, I went to record bass at Guitar Center and recorded on a random amp with an Ibanez SR400. It was fuckin great because I used any bass and any amp for free! It was like free, unlimited sounds for free!

This song/mix made me super amped again to make music with the boys even though we're all apart. But it's still possible and we'll keep going! Also John's Basement sucks!

Johns Basement Takes Over LA

“It looks just like GTA”

This June the boys traveled to LA for the NO VALUES festival.

We got to meet a lot of cool people at the festival, lots of old school punk rockers with a lot of rad fucking stories. Pomona was packed with punks, from gas stations to restaurants to train stations. The scene was alive and well that day, and we are glad we got to be a part of it.

After the festival it was time to crash out, beach bum style. I peer pressured the boys into riding the $15 roller coaster. On the walk back to our rental we hit the rings and rope climb at muscle beach. We left some stickers along the way at the festival and in Santa Monica at the pier and famous skate spots we passed.

The bruises and sun burn may have faded, but those memories will stay with me til I’m 80 with dementia shitting myself standing in line at McDonalds.
